Stefano Jacoviello teaches Semiotics of Culture at the University of Siena, and Musicology and Communication at Siena Jazz National Music Academy. He is in charge for Cultural Projects Development and Media at Accademia Musicale Chigiana, where he collaborates with the artistic direction.
His research interests include music, fine and performing arts, intercultural translation. His interdisciplinary approach crosses semiotics with anthropology, aesthetics, history and theory of arts. He is involved as scientific coordinator in several international research projects on heritage and performing arts, and collaborates with many academic and cultural institutions and publications.
Recent books: La rivincita di Orfeo. Esperienza estetica e semiotica del discorso musicale (Mimesis, 2012); with T. Sbriccoli, Shifting Borders. European perspectives on Creolisation (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2012). As a composer, he writes music for stage, video, and multimedia installations.
